This is a Big Lottery funded project which will
run for three years commencing February 2006 until February
2009.
This project brings elders from different cultures together
in a variety of settings i.e. coach trips, events and activities – with
the purpose of reducing isolation and breaking down barriers
between groups and cultures.
Through the work of the earlier Lottery funded Elders Project
(2003 – 2005) the project is already well established
with most elders groups in the City and we now want to contact
elders by liaising with visiting schemes and similar partners.
The intention is to introduce elders to new activities and
possibly attending an elders group on a regular basis.
We
also want to bring elders’ service providers together to collaborate
on the project and they are represented at our Steering Group
meetings which are held every two months.
Activities are as diverse as art, swimming, tai chi and cake
decorating etc. We also fund and run courses such as Cook and Eat, Arts & Crafts and Computer technology training. |
