LATEST: Our quiz evening on Friday 14 October raised an amazing £450 for our centre. Thank you to all who attended.
On Saturday 26 November 2011 we have our Christmas Fayre between 10am and 12 noon. There will be many stalls from gifts to homemade jams and preserves and there is a signed Nottingham Forest (2011/2012 season) shirt up for grabs in our raffle - don't miss it!
RADFORD CARE GROUP EST. SINCE 1968
Our centre is vibrant, busy and innovative, we don’t sit around and knit and sleep, we look for projects to get involved with. So far we have:
- WRITTEN OUR OWN BOOK
- DEVELOPED OUR OWN NEWSPAPER, PLUS A GOLDEN MEMORIES EDITION.
- DESIGNED OUR OWN MUGS
- DONE A COMBINED PROJECT WITH RADFORD NURSERY CALLED YOUNG TOES OLD TOES
- CREATED 2 GARDENS
- SPANISH CLASSES, JEWELRY MAKING CLASSES AND PAINTING.
- JOINED WITH OTHER ORGANISATIONS TO DO A JOINT PROJECT, TELLING WARTIME STORIES IN A MAGAZINE CALLED LOVE ‘INNER’ CITY.
- MADE A FILM WITH YOUNG PEOPLE, RECORDING ELDERS MEMORIES.
- WRITTEN A BOOK OF POETRY AND RECORDED A ‘CD RAP’ (YOU CAN DOWN-LOAD THIS ON OUR WEBSITE) INVOLVING, INFANTS, RAPPERS AND OTHER ORGANISATIONS.
We are run mainly by volunteers who have been supporting us for many years.
We won the QUEENS GOLDEN JUBILEE AWARD FOR VOLUNTEERING and were presented at St James’s Palace, where we received a crystal and a certificate signed by HRH.
In 2006/7 our president Pauleen Davies was presented to the Queen and awarded the MBE for volunteering.
We hold a reputation for excellence amongst the statutory sector, and we are very proud of our achievements.
We fundraise daily, through selling second hand items, holding small raffles and running a shop. This funds our speakers, entertainment or subsidises an outing.
Larger specific donations come from Trusts both local and further afield, NHS trusts, Local government and the Big Lottery for major projects.
Extra fundraising is through our Spring, Summer, Autumn and Christmas fairs plus 2 quiz evenings a year, and other ‘one off’ events. These raise us about £5000 per year, which again is spent on the centre and the service users.
We would love to do more joint work with our City and show local businesses what we can achieve and how we enhance and often change the lives of our older population.
We look for help from local businesses, both to raise funds and get involved with team building projects. We often need help with our outings, celebrations or more practical things. We also look for funding to supplement much of our everyday running costs, general repairs and equipment.
Every pound given to Radford Care Group directly benefits local people.
If you would like to help fund vital services to older people across Nottingham please click to donate on our homepage. To help us by giving up your time please visit our volunteering page to find out more.
We hope our centre will be of interest to you, and that we shall be working together in the future.
THERE IS STILL LOTS TO DO!
